How to tune with a microphone

  1. Press Start and allow the microphone.
  2. Pick your instrument, or Chromatic for anything else (harmonium, veena, flute, voice).
  3. Play one string and let it ring. Tighten the string if the needle is left of centre (flat), loosen it if it's right (sharp). It turns green when you're within 5 cents.
The note keeps jumping around.

Play one string at a time in a quiet room, and hold the phone or laptop close to the instrument. Low bass notes are harder for small microphones to pick up.

What is a cent?

A cent is a hundredth of a semitone. Most people can't hear a difference smaller than about 5 cents.
