How to make a PDF black and white

  1. Choose your PDF. The first page shows how it will look.
  2. Pick shades of grey (best for pages with photos) or pure black & white (best for text).
  3. Press Convert and print the new file.
Can I still select the text afterwards?

No. Each page is turned into a grey picture, so the text can't be selected or searched any more. Keep your original PDF for that.

Why not just pick "black and white" in the print settings?

That works on many printers, but some still use colour ink to make grey, and some phones and print shops don't have the option. A grey PDF prints the same everywhere.

The file is bigger than the original.

Text-only PDFs are very small, and pictures of pages are bigger. Use Screen quality, or pure black & white, for a smaller file.
